Laura I think is hinting that she wants to start our family but for me the thing is me being male I haven't even decided what I want to do as a career yet but money is no drama as she rents out a property in the Perth suburb of Maddington...she works at her aunts cafe and has always been blessed with money in her life from family and friends, the house is inheritence from her nan but I am wondering, do I as a male need to be settled into a career before we start our family or not?? reasons??

Sounds like you have it all. No mortgage! Wow. I believe that the best way to start a family is to be settled and secure and you sound hesitant. I wouldn't want to lose this lady so set a time. Have a really good talk to her about it. Like say next year or something. I don't believe the career is essential. Are both of you intending to work? Or are you going to be a stay at home dad? That's a great job by the way. Lots to do but very rewarding and settling for the family.

I think that different situations require different answers. I don't think that you should start a family until you are confident about the money that you bring in. It's all good and well that your partner gets money from her family and friends, but as a man, and as a father to a child, you would want to be able to bring in the money and be the source of income. I think that you should sit down with your wife and talk about having a family. If at the end of the day, she wants a child and you don't, please don't do it just for the heck of it. People always want different things in life. Good luck

Let me tell you this: a woman needs to feel safe. We ladies need to know that you gentlemen HAVE ambitions, that you are SURE of what you want in life. If you don't, than that leaves us unsure, shaky, lacking confidence in you....
So first get some sense, decide what you want in life.
And if you want to start a family, that is noble goal too, but decide!]
And act upon it! The sooner the better, or you will end up loosing the love of your life...

I learned that if you take the time to "plan" kids that you will NEVER be ready for them. There will always be something...not enough insurance, live in the wrong neighborhood, job transitions, too old, too young, not enough money or time or patience or.....it will never be totally ideal and you will always put it off.

My question is, why would she even marry you if you don't even have any ambition?
