famous? There really werent many thououghbreds that made their jockeys or owners famous after Citation in 1948 (i think) I know Ron Turcotte rode Secretariat to the brilliant Triple Crown. That made him one of the more recognized names in racing. Not sure if Turcotte rode much in the 50's or 60's but Id assume so because he had to have some experience before they let him ride Secretariat.
