Not all Crows are black, at least all black. For instance here is a photo of a Pied Crow, an African species:

Birds have evolved with different colors and patterns for the same reason animals have. It makes them more successful in surviving. There are many species of crows. In the United States all of them are solid black. Here we have American Crows, the most common, Fish Crows, found along the east coast and upper Gulf coast and along some eastern rivers, Northwestern Crow, found only on the upper coast of Washington state and Tamualipas Crow, found occasionally in Brownsville Texas on the mexican border. There are also two species of ravens, Common and Chihuahuan, which are relatives of crows. Jays, nutcrackers and magpies are in the same family.

Crow is a great scavenger and a helper bird.If it had been brightly coloured it would have been held in cage, much to the discomfiture of those birds that need its help. This colour is advantageous to its survival and the function it performs in the ecosystem.
