i have read here and there that it is cool, but since it is yellow-ish wouldn't that be warm? please help me understand. i am very pale but i have a yellowish tone skin. for example, i tried a very light lavendar eye shadow the other day and my skin looked sickly yellow. but i keep reading that it is a cool tone. i'm confused.

p.s. my hair is a dark reddish brown and my eyes are blue, so this adds to my confusion.

The two classifications of color for beauty in "warm vs cool" and "spring, autumn, fall, winter" have probed to be useless. The most important color in any person is their skin color. We can separate whites from browns, and this two categories may have subcategories, as we have a pale dark, a medium dark and the black woman. Whites may also go from very light, to a yellow or pink shade.
If you have olive skin you may be a pale brown. Just avoid in your wardrobe all colors that are like your skin tone. The more the contrast, the more the beauty. Read my other answers here to find out more about your beauty.

That's what I am as well, and it's most definitely warm. Oddly enough, I have no problem wearing purple either. You have the chestnut hair as well, so did I before bleaching.

I also find that green works very well for a warmer skin tone. For eye shadow (my eyes are gray and almond-shaped, I'm half Native American) I find that white in the inner corner brings them out more.

Your skin tone is probably warm-based, so you'll want to use foundation, blushes, and powders to complement your warm tone. You can, though, use cool-based colors, meaning blue based colors such as lavender as eye shadow, which will provide a contrasting effect. With your blue eyes, though, you might want to consider neutral based tones in taupe, beige or brown to really make your eyes stand out amazingly against your skin and hair.

Hi .. I read once in cover gir;'s website is that if you check out the inside of your wrist, you would be able to tell if you have cool or warm undertones.

If you are yellowish there, then your undertone is warm. (that is me) in that case, brown eye shadows are more suitable.

and if your pinkish, then you are cool. Say in that case blue and purplish eye shadow would be more suitable.

I've heard of one way to find out if you have warm or cool skin tone, if your nipples are pink you have warm, if they are more yellow/brownish then you have cool. it's true I'm not just talking crap, i learnt it in a beautician class
