"Baby Love" by Robin Barker. I have a 3 month old and I refer to this book almost daily. So much info. If you can think of any question it will have an answer. I keep recommending it to all my pregnant friends.

What to expect in the first year is a definite - my 1st point of reference.
The Baby Whisperer solves all your problems by the late Tracy Hogg is excellent too. She has some good advice which isn't regimented like another baby guide book writer, who incidentally has no children of her own.
Also check out some websites:

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy

The baby whisperer by Tracey Hogg.
She was a Pediatrican nurse.
I am expecting my first baby in May and am clueless about how to even pick a baby up.
This book is very easy to read and not complicated and funny in parts, but at the end of the day it is common sense in her books.
It even gives you a guide how, when to feed.
She had a program on Discovery home and health and was very good.
The main thing is not to panic. Good luck...

William and Martha Sears have several great books; 'The Baby Book' I think deals with the baby basics. Also, ask at the hospital/Birthing center where you are delivering what kind of classes they have for expectant mothers. These classes are typically covered by your insurance.

You can read as many books as you like but in the end it all comes naturally and you learn as you go along. Each baby is different and it's often a case of trial and error to get it right for your own baby but you will be amazed how easy it all seems once baby is here. Congratulations.

I know a fantastic book that was recommended to me & that i bought & read with every baby. I can't find it now but it is called BABY LOVE. It is an Australian book & written by an Australian midwife. Her name is Robyn Barker. Unless you are in Australia it's probably not much help to you. It is a very well known book here so shouldn't be to hard to find in Australian book shops. Good luck.

'Having a Baby is a Scream' by Joan Rivers. OK maybe not so hot on the actual practical advice but does give you some perspective and takes the scariness out of it. Gave it to my wife after the birth of our first, she said that she nearly burst her stitches laughing - certainly stopped any 'post-baby blues'

try this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Secrets-Baby-Whisperer-Connect-Communicate/dp/0091857023/sr=1-1/qid=1168251065/ref=sr_1_1/203-5290706-4566307?ie=UTF8&s=books
Secrets of the Baby Whisperer by Tracy Hogg.
I also liked the Gina Ford Contended Little Baby book about routines but thats probably a topic for another question.....
My advice is go to the library and see what selection they have and dip into a few and see how you find the info.

Anything but the contented baby book which is awful. The NCT has several publications which hit the spot and the website is useful too
