this is a major problem with labelling a person as having a mental illness.... I have faced this for years.... even before my mental illness developed I had people saying that my sadness over a loss of a child was depression..... and I had doctors telling me to take medication.... I now know I was just sad.... I was in grief... I had such deep pain at the loss of my first born son that I could not share or express the extent of that pain...

BUT I was NOT depressed.... I was a normal grieving mother...

I have found so many times that people will dismiss my feelings as just being some sort of side effect of my illness... and not accept that my feelings are real..

The medication maybe helpful to high levels of depression. But depending on it too much and that too in avoidable situations only makes you weaker biologically.

Always weigh long and short time consequences when taking it. Doing this in a stressfree and disciplined way itself will help in the situation.

Bettering the knowledge and discipline in taking your medicines and life is always helpful.
