PT. JAWAHAR LAL NEHRU WAS NOT AGREED TO MARRIAGE INDIRA GANDHI TO PARSI TO WHOM SHE LOVED. THEN SHE MAHATMA GANDHI ADOPTED MR. FEROZE THE HUSBAND OF INDIRA AND GIVEN THEM SURNAME GANDHI.

Both are the grand son of Gandhiji (gandhi families). Indira is the mother of Rajeev and grand mother of Rahul and Priyanka, Sonia is the wife of Rajeev and mother of Rahul and Priyanka

I am adding a little.To marry Mrs. Indira Nehru, Mr Feroj Khan changed his surname as well as religion and became Mr Feroj Gandhi.

Indira's husband, Feroze Khan was a disciple and more like a devotee of Gandhiji.To show his respect,he accepted the surname 'Gandhi'. Thus his wife Indira and hence the kids got the surname 'Gandhi' and not Indira Khan,Rajeev Khan etc.

Feroz Ghandhi never changed religion and remained "Parasi" throughout his life. His father's name was Jehangir Ghandhi.
