Sometimes you can't ignore everyone whom is like this, exspecially when you live with them or they are constantly in your life. Sometimes conflict is necisary to stop the situation, just keep in mind that most people whom do this are either jelous or insecure of themselves in some way. If you can't ignore it, then attempt to resolve the matter in a calm, collected, peacful way. If this is going to bring on more abuse than you can handle or some form of physical abuse then remove yourself from the situation. If this is your husband and you have children remove the children from the situation alltogether, for this is how abusive people start ( by being in some form of abusive relationship)

I bet you've been a rug your whole life and hated it. Don't let anyone dictate how you feel about yourself, take responsibility for your feelings! Why do you let someone criticize you and not stand up for yourself? so you can play the role of a victim and always blame others for 'making you feel'. Bull crap! Take some classes on line for learning how to be assertive (not aggressive) and become the person you were meant to be, not someone elses responsibility to walk on egg shells or on you.
Good Luck sweet spirit, it's hard but you can do it!

u can only do 2 things...either you listen to those critism and feel bad or make that critism a stepping stone or a pillar to make you a stronger person.
i understand your feeling of losing self-esteem or patience whenever they criticize you. sometimes it's better to keep silent to avoid further damage. let them criticize you and as long as you know where you stand, you'll be fine.

People hurt people, it's in our nature. It's up to if you are going to let it affect you or not. When a friend of mine hurts me it's in one ear and out the other. I know who I am, and I don't need anybody else to tell me any different.

Set boundaries and be clear what they are.
Insults and put downs are no fun.
By not making clear what you will and won't accept, you are leaving yourself open for much misery.
So make it clear. And mean it.
