how come? the best way is talk to your mom about it. And explain why, whatever is the reason behind when she took your ipod.

If you tell her that now you realize that it is better to use it half the time (i.e. anywhere else but school) than not to have it at all and that you will not take it to school again. I think this might work

Convince her that it will not interfere during class or studying, and that your music choices will not attract a bully. Besides, computer users don't like to be called "nerds", do they?
