The Exorcist is considered the scariest movie ever made. For me it definitely was! I saw it on a dare, first stayed up all night reading the book, and it took me 3 months after seeing the movie to feel normal again.

I think the one movie that had the greatest affect on how I felt was "The Sum Of All Fears" in 2002. I can't really describe it, but it was something I felt in my chest, and I'm not a person that scares easily.

As for my second wife, it was the movie "ALIEN". She was holding a large bucket of popcorn when the alien first jumped out of the darkness in the movie. Now this was an old movie theater with two levels of seating. We were sitting on the lower level. That bucket of popcorn hit the ceiling, going everywhere. Now, it was not the only one to head skyward, but it was the only one to hit the ceiling. The theater gave us free passes for another movie, for her having launched the highest flying bucket. Apparently it had become a game of watching people jump at that point in the movie for the theater employees.

I watched it when I was 9 or 10 yrs old. My crazy dad called me to watch a "funny" movie. I ran away when I saw it and must slept with lights on for months. Stupid dad!

The scariest films I've seen were not horror/scream flicks but bios that depict hatred and true violence. I'd name AMERICAN HISTORY X, SCHINDLER'S LIST and BOYS DON'T CRY. I can only watch these movies once. Bigotry is really scary.

A movie made by the BBC nearly twenty years ago for Television called THE WOMAN IN BLACK
the movie relies on suspense rather than effects and I do not scare easily but THE WOMAN IN BLACK left me well and truly spooked ...
NOBODY does film media better that the Brits.
