We started by talking on the internet, exchanged numbers, He seemed normal at 1st but after talking for awhile i just dont want nothing to do with him. So lately he's been calling all hours of the night sometimes up to 10-20x's a day when i dont answer he calls back 5 minutes after sumtymes leaving nasty msg's.. He text'd my friends cell phone saying very vulgar things of a sexual nature into which is trying to make ppl think we met and had sexual relations which we didnt. He's texting threatning msg's on how he has family from the RCMP and Top Rank Ppl in the Government to mess me up. Ive asked him to stop calling and to stop texting my friends phone but he says theres no reason good enough im giving him to not call. Im going to get my number changed but its something i really cant afford right now but really have no other choice. But I am Wondering how these men can get away with it? can they? or can i press charges on him even thou he lives in the states and i live in canada?

I doubt it. Do what we have to do and change our numbers. I never give out my e-mail or phone number anymore, not even to businesses. It is a shame that this is happening to you but we have way too many people down here that have no jobs because of our illegal alien and Free Trade Agreement problems. Good luck to you.

First, contact the police in your area. Explain your situation to them. If possible, bring copies of the text messages he has sent to you. A sympathetic police officer will be able to give you more information about how to proceed.
Second, if you know the city where the man lives, call the police department there. They may also be able to assist you.
Even if the police cannot help you, you should call your phone company to change your phone number. Look in the front pages of your phone book for information about how to do this. In cases of harassment, doing this should be free.
Note: people cannot 'press charges' in Canadian courts. That is something that only happens in the US judicial system. In Canada, the Crown Prosecutor decides whether or not to charge a person with a crime; in your case, you would be 'the complainant'.

Lodge a complaint with your local Police Dept. This person is stalking you. The Police will take all the details including his address (through his phone details), track him down and arrest him. You would have to find out if there are any cross-jurisdictional issues but the Canadian Police should have no problems liaising with the Police in this individual's location to nail him.
Keep all his messages and emails etc; they will be very useful as evidence.

Getting your number changed should be free or very low cost
Isn't 20 bucks or so worth your piece of mind?
I dont know about Canadian phones but here in the states you can dial *70 and block his number
I would suggest just changing it as he would probably just call from another one.
(no wonder this guy is single)

Ask the FBI, I'm sure they have a information person who can tell you. Change your phone number, email, user names etc. You give this guy power by believing him. He sounds pretty twisted, what do your local police have to say about it?

You can, but it will be very costly due to the fact that two separate law enforcement agencies have to get involved.

He can't get away with it. File a complaint at your local police office. They should be able to help you.
