For a typical point and shoot camera (not DSLR) taking photos outside in bright sunlight you would want your ISO setting as low as can be depending on the camera. Some go as low as 64, or 80, or 100. As light gets dimmer you increase ISO setting to either 300, or 400. As at least one answerer mentioned because a camera's ISO number goes to 1600, it's all hype. It would be a useless shot at that number, quite blurry. Some cameras, but not very many will let you shoot higher than a 400 ISO, but generally don't go over 400 on a point and shoot camera. So, ISO is your camera's sensitivity to light.

Being ISO Certified means your company builds stuff that will work across different platforms. Take computers for example, if they weren't standardized, then a Logitech Camera wouldn't work in a Gateway Computer, but maybe it would in a Dell.

ISO is a disc image. If you have a CD-burner and software you can create a CD with the ISO.

You can also find programs that would use and .ISO like a .ZIP or .RAR file, where it just unzips the file.

WinRAR can open a .ISO
