You just phone ATO office to their toll free number and try to get your old Tax File No. by answering some of your personal information. If you find it then just use the previous tax file no.

Otherwise you can get a new tax file no. by applying online to this site: http://www.ato.gov.au/

I got my once by applying online and its really faster.

G'day,

Definitely contact ATO directly. I have included a weblink for their contact number.

Hope you'll get your TFN and able to claim back some tax returns. To do that, you will need a group certificate from your ex-employer and the Tax Agents will be able to help you from there.

Good luck!

If you get it you'll be able to get a tax refund on the tax you paid in those 2 months.

These days the ATO actually gives it out over the phone....you just need to give them a few details...
