No it isn’t, US is not a democratic country, it is a country that thinks that it have the right to rule over other countries. And start a war, when ever and where ever wanted. And as we often have seen on false grounds.
Within the US there are really big social problems, and the country seam to be ruled by a person who has personal interest in the oil industry.
It is also a country that does not meat the UN definition on torture, it imprison people without proper trials. The list can be made very long on violations of the Human rights.

There are actually two questions here. Yes, the US is the land of opportunity, but as for being the biggest democracy, India is getting better and is certainly bigger. If I could re-write the US Constitution, I'd change the Fifth Amendment by adding, after the words "private property", the words ", or any right therein". (The lack of those four words cost me a million dollars.)

i don't understand why ppl in the US always think that they are the best ppl in world.
80%ppl in the US do not even know what it is to make ur own living.
life is hard for ppl in other parts of the globe......still ppl over there are far more hard working than ppl in the US.
US wants to be a superpower by acquiring all the oil wealth around the globe, coz they know that some years down the line, there is gonna be so much scarcity of oil that US will rule the world by selling oil at such high prices that other countries would do anything to get it at a lower price.

Compared to everywhere else, yes it is.
Lots of things need to be changed but that would make it perfect and there is no such thing as a perfect democracy.

I don't see the US as being any more democratic than Australia, where I come from. If I were to change the US, I would first of all get rid of George Bush, get your soldiers out of Iraq and get you to become far more proactive about the environment. Shame Gore didn't become president. He certainly deserved to be.

So far we're still #1. We do need to go back to a government for the people by the people. The majority is not in charge anymore. The government is doing what it feels like and the people don't care.
