I did it again today, and I felt like a total R-Tard. I just laughed at myself but unfortunately, so did the person that I was greeting...jerk. ;-)

I'm sorry Samurai, are we talking about the same question here? This one...right above these words you're reading right here...cuz... I don't really know what you're talking about.

ALL THE TIME. Or "What are you doing?" And I say, "Good." I think I have a wiring problem... ;-)

Just tell them that you actually meant "FINE" as an acronym for "F'ed up, Insecure, Neurotic and Emotional." Then you should have PLENTY to talk about! I'm not saying you are all those things; just that somebody once said it to me and I thought it was kind of funny, and certainly a conversation-starter.
If the person you're talking to is someone whom it wouldn't be appropriate to say that to, then I'd say just ask the person a follow-up question about something you know interests them to show that you're not trying to blow them off with your answer of "fine."

I hate when guys do that, when someone gives you a chance to direct the conversation, take advantage!! makes you look like you're not even interested, even though i realize its a bad habit =\
and no, i only say that to my mom, cause she asks me every 10 mins, wherever i go, lol.

Think about what you say before you say it. This is something that comes with practice. You don't always have to answer right away, in fact, it makes you more intriguing and interesting if you give answers which are unique and true.

Heh, I walked into work the other day a few minutes late. Every time someone walks in late, this guy I work with says "What's the matter? Fall in?" (in reference to sitting on the john and falling into the toilet bowl). So I walk in the door, he says "How's it goin'?" and I immediately shouted "NO, you dick!" without thinking.
Embarassing!

Yeah that happens to me. My biggest thing is saying good morning at night or good afternoon in the morning.

Not me, but I say stuff like that all the time. It happens when your mind's not really on the subject. Like calling your teacher "Mum".
Man, that was embarassing.

whenever i go to the movies and the ticket seller or ticket taker says "Enjoy the show," I always say "You, too." without thinking. I can't help it.
