No; the force of the car is greater than the force of the insect, since the insect has so little mass. While the substance of the insect has to come to a stop for a fraction of a second, it is not sufficent force to cause the car to stop. If you get technical, it DOES slow the car down by a TINY fraction, but not enough so that we notice it.

This is actually a physics question, but it does slow the car down a VERY SMALL amount! It is the same as a semi hitting a car, but it can't slow the car down to a stop because it doesn't have enough of a mass....

Rather, it goes off at an angle, not the opposite direction. But even considering that, you take it's momentum, and the momentum of the moving car, the car keeps moving.... the bug has to go somewhere.

if you were running towards a car travelling in the opposite direction would u stop it? no, you'd get run over. oh, and i can't believe that u haven't seen squashed bugs on the windscreen before when u get into the car.

lets look at the way this works
every force has an equal & opposite reaction

for this experiment lets look at the change in momentum.

m*V+Mv = (M+m)V'
a 2000pound car going 1mph when in a head-on collison w/ a fly which may weigh 0.002pounds at a speed of 10 mph
the difference is 2000-0.02 or less than 1/10 a percent change

When a bug hits a car the last thing to go through its mind is its butt

mathematically, it'll never happen because the distance between the car and the bug keeps dividing until it becomes an infinitesimal amount that is not lesser than zero

a bug stop a 2 ton car? ya think?.....

Is that a rhetorical question! Because I think you know the answer. ............................................... Of Course It Stops The Car. (just kidding)
