Nonverbals and paralinguals are much more difficult to control then the actual verbal message. People believe the nonverbal messages because we are use to being lied to an its much harder to lie nonverbally. Finally, words are just one point of information and we are use to weighing information. If the words say one thing but all the nonverbals and paralinquals say something else its simply a matter of weighing one information source against the many.

For me, I think sometimes speaking can take lots of emotions out because people may get shy, nervous, or excited and all these will affect the words that you speak out. But in nonverbal communication we don't have this problem. You can write down whatever you want and totally express yourself.

Because in an intimate relationship, people becaome so used to communicating using body-language more often than verbally. They can pick up signs of the different changes of moods like weather changes which others outside the relationship can not pick up easily.

I'm not sure. Maybe it's because when we were pre-verbal infants, we understood touch before we understand language. But I personally believe that words--in any language--simply fail when it comes to true human intimacy. There simply are no words to describe how you feel, what's going on, what it's all about. That's what's so magical about relationships!
