Okay it may sound gross but it has helped me for years (since i was a kid) My mother used to give it to me to help me sleep. Nowadays Starbucks calls it a Vanilla Creme. (if you don't want to make it yourself you can spend $4 for it)
The home recipe is a cup of milk.
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tbsp butter
3 tbsp (up to 5) of sugar
Warm until piping hot. (microwave is fine... like 3 minutes)
Sip slowly and soon you'll be sleeping like a baby.

I'm an insomniac, and have been for 10 years. Excepting 5HTP (which is a tryptophan pill), only the following have worked:
1. Having the TV on, with something familiar playing (like a favorite DVD)
2. A cold washcloth over my eyes
3. Having someone rub or massage my back. This takes my mind away from everything but comfort and sleep comes naturally.
4. Reading a book until hitting pure exhaustion
Good luck! I feel your pain!

One thing I have learned is that when I can't sleep there is usually something that needs to be settled wether I know what it is or not.
I was told something by my doctor and I practice it when I'm having a hard time sleeping.
Put on some relaxing music on a low volume, ( I use classical with soft nature sounds in the background) lay in a comfortable place, close your eyes and just breathe. This will start the relaxation process so you can move on.
Start to think about something that is heavy but gentle (like using your blanket) that is pressing on your feet moving up to your legs, to your stomach, chest, arms, neck, and finally your head. Wait about 30 seconds between switching body parts so you can not only think about the heavy item but you can feel it as well. As each body part gets heavier they will start to relax more and more as you move up and by the time you reach your head you should be so relaxed that you can go to sleep. You will feel settled and sleep should be easy.
I hope if you try this it helps you.

You probably sleep more than you realize. If you did'nt, you'd be dead. People can't really go without any sleep for more than a week max. After that they start feeling like they've taken LSD. So you're sleeping more than you think you do. You need a doctors advice, and soon...

not a whole lot you can do while pregnant. otherwise, i'd say nyquil, benadril, sleeping pills, just keep trying one till you find one that works.
