Is it psychopathic behaviour if a person can look at a picture of a mutilated corpse and not feel any different about it then if they were looking at a picture of a tree, or is it something else, or just normal?

Psychopaths are social predators who charm, manipulate and ruthlessly plow their way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered expectations without the slightest sense of guilt or regret. Their bewildered victims desperately ask, 'Who are these people? We often think of psychopaths as the disturbed criminals who capture headlines and crowd the nation's prisons. But not all psychopaths are killers. They are more likely to be men and women you know who move through life with supreme self-confidence -- but without a conscience. Completely lacking in conscience and feelings for others, they selfishly take what they want and do as they please, violating social norms and expectations without the slightest sense of guilt or regret. He will choose you, disarm you with his words, and control you with this presence. He will delight you with his wit and his plans. He will show you a good time, but you will always get the bill. He will smile and deceive you, and he will scare you with his eyes. And when he is through with you, and he will be through with you, he will desert you and take with him your innocence and your pride. You will be left much sadder but not a lot wiser, and for a long time you will wonder what happened and what you did wrong. And if another of his kind comes knocking at your door, will you open it? Observing an image of carnage in itself is not psychopathic unless you have the urge to follow through with the act of creating the situation in the image. If no act is committed, it does not say you are a not a psychopath. Usually psychopaths are usually identified from the outcome of crime and we recognize afterwards the causes. For the most part we associate what the psychopath has done was due to their personality and less about their mental state.

Some people are able to be objective, to realize that there is information about how the person died, etc., in the picture. They can be clinical about it.

I always figure people with strong stomachs should do the jobs the rest of us cannot imagine doing, such as coroner or paramedic on an ambulance crew. They must be well paid, because the rest of us gag at the very thought.

When My Steve committed suicide, a man from Crime Scene Cleaners, Inc., came and cleaned up, pulling up a section of rug because it could not be cleaned adequately. It cost $450 for about an hour's work, but I certainly could not have done it myself, nor asked any of my friends to do it for me.

So don't consider the person who can be objective about gross stuff to be psychotic; he's useful!

Not really, the main thing is the fact that in todays society, people are bombarded with so many violent images, that seeing a corpse is no diffrent from looking at a flower

No, it's sociopathic.

Either that, or you've just become inured to the experience after seeing too many of them (e.g., a medical examiner, a cop, etc.).

No it isn't. You don't know the person in the picture, and you have no ties to them. If it were someone you know then maybe yes!!!

a little... but psychopathy is diagnosed based on more criteria than simply looking at one picture.

No, I don't think so. Perhaps it's just really sad. The person who can do this is obviously a-emotional, cold and empty............:)
