What makes Germany and Austria different from each other? Any time you have groups of communities living apart from each other for an extended period of time, you will start to have differences. Even within a single country, you will find some differences between the different regions. One key difference between both countries is due to the fact that Malaysia was a British colony while Indonesia was a Dutch colony. So the political system and civil service are different. There are many similarities between the Malay and Indonesian food, culture and language. But Malaysia has a large minority of non-Malays i.e. Chinese and Indian population which adds variety to the mix in Malaysia. P.S. There is a reason I mentioned Germany and Austria and not Germany/France. Similar, but not the same.
