For those who have actually been in graduate school, i need advice on how to start researching for WHAT i want to major in. I'm not good at anything in specific except maybe for writing. I'm not good in math or anything like that. Am I hopeless for graduate school?

Graduate school is so much more specialized than undergrad, that if you do not know what you want to study, there's no point in doing it. Or are you still just in high school or first year of college, and looking way ahead?

Since the one thing you think you could be good at is writing, why not just write? Learn how to submit works to publications, and send in some short stories or non-fiction articles. Spend some time practicing the art of communication by writing really good questions and really good answers here. Write a long, thoughtful blog about something that matters a great deal to you. Write letters to the editor of your local paper.

But don't waste your time and money on grad school just because someone said you should have a higher degree.

Because graduate school is very specialized and EXPENSIVE I recommend that you don't apply to any program until you have an idea about what you want to do with your life. There are many jobs that involve writing from freelance writing, to teaching, to being an attorney. Think about what you are passionate about and find a way to make money doing that. That may or may not involve getting an advanced degree.

If you are currently in school go visit your Career Center the counselors will be able to point you into the right direction. Also check out this website, http://www.bls.gov/oco/ which describes all types of career and what is required to work in that career

I have my Master's in Elementary Education and took graduate classes in Special Ed and English Literature as well. They were all easy. My dh went to law school. Just the first year was tough (for everyone even my usually laid-back dh!). The 2nd and 3rd years were not that bad.

Well, Education is super easy, Master Comps were not hard at all, just basically an exam that I had to take at the end of my 3 years of grad school. But, the pay is not good. My dh gets triple the pay of teachers, and some lawyers get 4 or 5 times the pay of teachers (he's a prosecutor which doesn't pay as good as some other lawyers). Another positive of law school is you get a Doctorate degree which you often have to get to get a job (ex. Psychologists, Criminologists, Professor, etc.) but you don't have to write a Dissertation which sometimes takes students years to write even if they are good writers.

For fun, here's a link to a career test which actually came out really accurate for me! http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/surveys/careers/
