Mine only seems to turn off the screen when the end/power button is pressed so it would still go off anytime

Actually I want the device to turn off completely not just turn the phone part off. The power button just seems to turn off the screen.

When your Treo is on, press and hold the power button (not the phone button) for at least 2 sec to turn the phone off. Go to the phone screen and you should see "Phone off" at the top left. To test if your phone is really off, try calling it from another phone, your phone should not ring nor vibrate. To turn the phone back on, press and hold the power button for at least 2 sec also.

When your Treo is off, you can tell that your phones is off if the light above the screen is off. That light would be blinking green if your phone is on. Blinking green also means that your phone is within range of your carrier's tower.

When you turn the power off you only turn off the phone capability. If you hit the power button after that you are simply putting the phone into stand-by which is still on but the screen is powered down and keys are locked. ( Based on theTreo 600)

You can get this information at web.palm.com, but to answer your question, you need to hold down the "End" button for a while, then it will power off. This works for TREO 700wx. These things are tricky! Good Luck!
