There may be an ancient ruin, buried in a field in the Shang Shiu province in Chine, but we got the idea of Xanadu from the poet Coleridge.

It exists it is in China its called Shang-tu also known as Xanadu where the Kublai Khan had his summer home and where he met Marco Polo

Coleridge wrote a famous poem----Kubla khan.Xanudu is mentioned in the first line.It did exist in the Mogul empire.
