I'm 16, and I'm a guy and I'm not good at sports, so I don't play them. I live in Toronto, Canada and all the guys here play hockey. I don't because it doesnt interest me so they all call me gay and no one likes me. I'm not gay, I just don't like sports. Sports doesnt interest me. I've tried them, and hated it. But now I think my life is over because my Dad's company is sending him to Dallas, Texas. So we are moving down in Febuary. This means I have to start liking football or no one there will like me, because I've heard foorball is the main thing in Texas. People expect a guy to be into sports, and be strong and all that stuff. Even wikipedia has a article about it and says so:

but I haven't followed all the guidlines or rules for masculnitiy or whatever, so it means I won't become a proper man the way they should be? Like asking this question makes me look weak or w/e and not playing sports makes me gay?

If you do not play sports it does not mean that you are gay. Its just that you are a bit shy and reluctant or may be a bit self-conscious. It does not matter whether you win or loose while playing, what matters most is that you played.
So, instead of sitting in front of the idiot box (T.V) or Comp, go out and get yourself some exercise and be healthy. And most importantly enjoy yourself to the hilt.

No, it means he has some chance of not automatically being labeled as an idiot, or a jock.
People praise sports so much.. it's better you not join. Gives them one less person to supply for. Better they use that money for textbooks and supplies for the teachers.
BTW, I'm from Houston, Texas, and I'd rather be in a hospital than a football game. Not ALL Texans love football. It's a stereotype brought on by King of the Hill.
Also, "proper men" don't tackle eachother. Cavemen and idiots do. You'll gain more respect down here by being intelligent. We aren't all hicks, just the football players and football fans you see on TV.

It does not mean that your gay... Being attracted with the same sex makes you GAY... You are not just interested with the same stuff most men do... I know some guys who are not interested in sports... But it does not mean that they are gay... You don't have to conform to the guidelines or rules of masculinity because society says so... Don't ever think that no one will like you 'coz you do not like or play football... Every person has their own field of interest... And... Society cannot do anything about it... That's who you are and nobody can change it... Know what interests you, cultivate and develop it... Like art and music... It is better to do things that you like because you will never get bored and get sick of it...

I am sorry you even feel you have to ask this question. o you do not need to like or Play sports to be considered straight. Do not let the losers bother you and that is what they are. Some people are athletic ad some like to play team sports. Does that make them straight, no way!
Find and enjoy whatever makes you feel good be it music,art or whatever If you did happen to be gay so FKing what. Just be the best person you can be. If you like girls as friends or more make as many as you can but also enjoy guy friends as well.
Just be OK with yourself and don't worry so much what everyone else thinks. (I know that is hard but you can do it).

Not playing sports, not doing well at sports, or not liking sports is not an indication of being homosexual and will not make one homosexual. Young people are often intolerant of differences and as they mature, hopefully they become more tolerant. I wish you well. Get in the band maybe or science work. Make friends and show that you have other interests. Not every guy is into sports. Soon, very soon, you will be grown and will be off to college perhaps. You will find other guys who are not 'gay' and who have interests other than sports. Hang in there.

don't think too much........this is just one feeling......there is no relationship btwn sports and gay..............just it's one kind of feeling...like if u'l feel u're gay so ur interest will change towrds gay
Dont worry, lots of guys dont play sports. In a big city there will be plenty of guys in your school that dont play them. When I was in school Id say half the guys in school didnt play
and I know may person even they was very good in sports but they are gay still now....

Of course it DOESN'T make you gay! Ppl can't just accept that some of us are different than the others, that some don't follow the mass. I think there isn't anything wrong in that. if you don't like sports are you going to force yourself into it, only because everyone does them? you have to think it trough, you know. I was always different than the others - it wasn't connected to sports, but to music that I love till now. ppl always made fun of me coz I listened Japanese rock music (what's more, because of visual they claimed that I like guys who look like girls,which for me was ridiculous,coz it was that MUSIC that became my life). but for most of ppl it was always like that - me liking gay guys who dress like girls. it wasn't nice, to hear it every day, to hear it even at home from my mom. but did it make me stop doing what I loved? no! I didn't care what ppl were saying, I knew what was best for me and I've never ever thought about giving it up,coz it's not what most of the ppl liked. even tho 99% were nasty towards me, there were a few ppl who liked me for the who I was and not for what I did or liked. I'm 100% sure there will be such ppl in your life too! the only thing you can do is to stop reacting to those nasty comments about your being gay. if you stop reacting, if you don't pay attention you'll see that in the end they'll get bored by that,coz they'll see that you don't care about their ridiculous opinions.
I think that you really shouldn't force yourself in sports if you hate it. it won't help, but may make things even worse for you. think about it!

Ah **** those guys i am the same just do what makes you happy. Why kicking a ball around is somehow more honorable then knowing how the cosmos works is beyond me. If you disagree with them why would you want to be like them.

listen what if ur a male who is confined to a wheelchair and has no control of ur any body parts, u sure as hell cant play sports, doesnt mean ur gay
