I have an NVIDIA GeForce 7500 LE and it handles every thing that I throw at it, I don't know about the price though because it came with my computer.

nvidia has a special series for rendering and stuff with 3d max or maya that is the 'nvidia Quadro' series, this series is more expensive than the ordinary nvidia graphic card and the price depend on the model but you can check froogle to find out each model price just search for nvidia quadro and you'll see.
