I had a big problem with this when I was in school. And I found that coffee helped very little, despite the caffeine claims. The best solution I found though was buying a TV, or at least that was the start. And it took a while for me to change my lifestyle in fact. It's just something that will bother you enough until you finally become willing to do something about it. I don't think coffee or sugar will help you much. Try sleeping until you don't want to sleep anymore. And do that for several days in a week. Don't worry that your parents usually wake up by alarm or anything, just sleep until you can sleep no longer. That has been the best solution for me. And once you do that for a while, on a regular basis, you will notice a change in the way you do things. Something else that has helped has been a nicer quality mattress. When I moved home from college my Mom had a nice queen sized mattress in my bedroom, a nice quality one. I would sit and watch TV a few hours before bed each night and sleep soundly. Good luck. Some of the medical information out there is misleading, at least from my own experiences. I had no luck whatsoever with coffee helping me to wake up. Or at least it didn't help my ability to stay awake in class. It woke me up in the mornings to go to class, because I wanted that cup of coffee. But then I was really weary and drowsy in class. It was really weird, made no sense at all. I was very confused.

Have breakfast. Make sure you are eating healthy foods and exercise. Just a 20 minute walk a day does wonders.

Take your education seriously. It is up to you to find your own goal and work towards it. Your motivation is in your own hands.
