OMG I remember those characters. Max Headroom, Spuds Mackenzie & Mr. Whipple. Max was like the first computer generated guy, spudz was a dog in a beer commercial and Mr. Whipple, don't squeeze the Charmin. I also owned a Rubix Cube. Do you remember the Krofft puppets? H.R. Puffnstuff, The Bugaloos, Sigmond & The Seamonsters, ect. Bowling For Soup had it right when they sang "She's Still Preoccupied With 1985". Thought I was the only one.

I do. I think its Max Headrom and he was the character that was only a head (face) with really blonde hair, and he was only shown on (or in) a computer monitor. Not sure what he represented but I would guess it had something to do with computers and or PCs, (i.e... CD Roms) ergo his name & spelling of ... "Head"- becuz well, thats what he was... a head, a face. And cd "Rom"- Headrom, Max.
Spuds Makenzie was the dog on the beer commercials, and a couple of others maybe 2 I think. He represented none other than "BUDWEISER" Beer!!!!!
Mr. Whipple was the bald man (well, he had a small comb over) with the black frame glasses, that managed a grocery store (that was his character on the T.V. commercials.) He had a problem always squeezing on toilet paper.
He represented Charmin Bathroom Tissue (better known as toilet paper!!!)
I dont know about your side of the world, but here on my side every brainiac and geek in the street owned a rubics cube.

I'm a child of the 80's. I still have a working Apple II-e. Max was the model for either Coke or Pepsi, Spuds Makenzie was Bob and Doug's dog, and Mr. Whipple squeezed all the Charmin he could. And I ran...I ran so far away....

Lets see I remember them all..as to what the characters represented.... Max was the future, Spuds sold beer and showed what good training can do for dog, Mr Whipple sold Charm toilet tissue. Don't squeeze the charm.

My brothers had Rubik cubes,,represented lots of free time and good at math. Thanks for the question hope I did ok lol.

Max was Coca-cola
Spuds McKenzie was Budweiser Beer
Mr. Whipple was Charmin toilet paper, that was squeezably soft.

I used to own a rubix cube.

These characters were all advertisment gigs, trying to get the people to buy their products with some comic relief in the commercial.

I know the rubix cube is from the eighties, so I will assume the others are as well. No, I was born in 1987. Apparently I missed it. Just glad I missed the clothes and hair.
