personally i think it's fine. just becareful doing it. like do it only once and wait a few days to see if the baby has any reactions to it. if there are no reactions to the ice cream then it's ok to give the baby a bite here and there.

i did this with my daughter. whatever i was eating, ice cream, yogurt, pudding..etc, i let my daughter try it. but in moderation.

assuming that the child is not on a soy formula, has had no reactions to any food or drink offered (I probably get it for this) I would say that in moderation, a few bites of ice cream wouldn't hurt a five month old. However, I wouldn't recommend it, that is completely up to the parent of the child in question. I know I won't let my baby have ice cream yet and he is almost seven months old. He is on a strict formula and baby food diet until I hear otherwise from his doc.

Absolutely not!

First of all, when introducing solids to a baby, you have to introduce them one at a time. Ice cream contains many different ingredients.

Second, ice cream has milk in it. Babies should not have cow's milk until they are at least a year old. Although, many people, myself included, don't think they EVER need cow's milk (www.notmilk.com).

Third, you shouldn't introduce solids until 6 months of age.

However, creating a "sweet tooth" is NOT a reason not to give ice cream. All babies have a natural sweet tooth. Breast milk is sweet.

I've been eating more lately too and im not sure why?! But best advice: Just try limiting yourself to how much snack food you eat and I understand the whole "treating yourself" thing. I do that too, but nowhere near do i eat healthy. Eat cereal as a healthier snack. The chocolate Special K usually satisfies a choco craving. So just chill out and don't stress over this. Just take it easy and try to stay eating how you did before all this.

No way - ice cream contains cow's milk and you shouldn't give any to a baby until 1 year old

No, not until 1 year of age, before that a baby's system can't properly digest it and will give the baby stomach aches, also introducing it before 1 year can cause a dairy allergy.

why don't you freeze a banana and mash it up that is a healthier choice plus if you give your child dairy products now they may be allergic to them later on when they can have milk. Projectile vomit is not fun...

I wouldn't because of the refined sugar in it. Plus why help towards developing its sweet tooth this young? Now is the time when you are helping to establish what tastes good to them, and what they like, please make them healthful choices. Your child will thank you later.

I don't know why not. I used to try all sorts of foods out on my daughter, she loved some of them and hated others.
