To answer your question requires further clarification on 'personality.'

The word 'personality' derived from a latin word 'persona' and in latin, it meant 'mask.' Etymology here is not so irrelevant; rather it is very important. If you restrict your use of 'personality' to the specific manifestation of yourself in a given specific situation; your personality can change over the period of time. For instance, if you go through a traumatic experience, such an experience can change your 'personality.' So your manifestation is kind of like a mask you wear. When the situations change, you can manifest new personality. will not touch the how changes to the manifestation of yourself occurs; at least, i can say it can occur voluntarily or involuntarily. Another thing to point out is that in the sense of personality, which i have just discussed, there can be as many personalities as there are situations.

In short, your personality can change.

However, if you are talking about what underlies all the different personalities that you can manifest, there isn't clear answer to it. It actually goes to a far more complex issue of the nature of consciousness or the status of the consciousness. If you, for instance, concult the international dictionary of psychology and how 'consciousness' is defined, (take it from me), it does not make any sense at all. Immanuel Kant actually puts it in a better way and much clearer: there is 'self' that you cannot know at all. He calls it 'transcendental self' or 'absolute self.'

I am not sure if 'transcendental self' really exists. If you refer 'personality' to transcendental self, I suppose the only answer that I can leave you with in response to your question is that there is no answer to it. I cannot say it can change or by the same token, I cannot even say it cannot change.

No. Personality will not change. You can adapt your habits but what you are never changes.
