What could possibly be wrong with everyone..Who cares if the English is correct? Why is it such a big deal.. People scan for hours to see what questions they can find to answer ,yet they cannot answer anything in an intellectual way but they are so quick to correct someone's grammar.I have been on computers far longer than most of you .. I was on them before home computers.I have never criticized anyone for their use of the language and now the English language has been so butchered by the use of short cuts on cellular phones ..What I want to know ..who gives a royal crap .. I mean really .If you can't read between the lines and know whats being said don't bother..You are insulting people and hurting their feelings because you don't have the intelligence to see a need or answer a question nor the decency to avoid conflict because of a typo..I miss the old days when only smart people could use computers.People always apologized about spelling.I had a joke that i said I spoke fluent typo

This is suppose to be fun and entertaining but the morons that have to make rude comments ruins it for everyone.. Why can't you make light of it and if you don't have anything good to say just shut up?

If it is hard to understand the question, then bad grammar is annoying...otherwise I dont care about grammar or spelling. I can't spell & I go to harvard (not kidding or trying to be elitist - just a fact - i am the dumbest person there anyway)

A person should take some pride showing they are literate and can converse with others.

Also, the way some people speak on the Internet is also taken as a direct reflection on the United States and the people.

It is starting to be a shame that non-native English speakers can speak and write better English than the native speakers. For example, here in South Korea, the students who are learning English are using Dictionaries to learn words. They honestly believe the Dictionary words are used as everyday words.

For example - Paradigm

How many native English speakers would know what this word means? Ask any Korean Student; they could tell you instantly.

But, I wholeheartedly agree with you. If you don't like the way the question is written, just bypass the question for another.

Who gives a royal crap? Only those fortune 500 companies where all the big money lies. If you are happy being relegated to an IT job for the rest of your days because you cannot be bothered to spell things correctly, or even try for a modicum of correct grammar, then fine.

Length of time on computers doesn't mean crap all and you know it. So what? I was on them before the home computer too. So was my grandfather, when they took up whole warehouses just to calculate little things. Strawman argument. As is the cell phone bit.

Some things people write on here are so incoherent even a dyslexic drunk couldn't decipher them.

HOWEVER, I can see where it is an issue - we don't have to have grammar police all the time. This is one of the instances where it isn't as important.

My rule is, when the grammar/spelling is so bad it interferes with answering the question, i dont. People ride their horses so high on the internet..there is no risk of reprisal, you can say stupid s$hit to people with out getting the crap beat out of you. some find this addictive and abuse the privilege. some are sanctimonious nosy a$$holes off the internet anyways. Some must always be right. Some are here just for their own amusement. some are in one hell of a hurry. some are point gaming.
But at the heart of it, this is an anonymous, free, user-monitored site. Having any kind of standard at all about it is retarded.

If the person typing is obviously from another country, one can tolerate incorrect grammar .. that is usually fairly obvious. I am tolerant of that. If the person is too lazy to type the word to instead of 2 or you instead of u, it becomes annoying. (Particularly when the person is asking a controversial question or criticizing someone else's intelligence, all the while, misspelling words and using IM style chat abbreviations.) Each case is taken and evaluated individually. Yes, I can read between the lines and figure out what the person is trying to say, but if they are lazy and ignorant, and criticizing others, they need to be called on it.

some good salient thinking but don't get carried away true there are few real scholars here but spelling does help and has gotten out of hand at times and I'm not just referring to an occasional typo but gobble di goook that is entirely illegible.the sword does cut both ways.
Peace out

I truelly believe that people in general try to spell correctly and be gramatically correct because it is a sign of their intellegence. What the majority of peopole tend to dismiss is that firstly true Intelligence can not be defined there will always be some bias and secondly God loves us for who we are not what we can prove to others :) God Bless
Ps. Interesting question by the way!
