As an Orlando resident I can tell you not much is 'given away' here.

Most of what you'll be lugging home are souveniers and clothing from different theme parks/resorts/attractions. Little things to give or show to friends and relatives to remind you of your trip.

The fact is that you don't have to leave with anything more than you came with, but its easy to get wrapped up in all the fuss and end up with quite a bit of extra junk!

As a Florida Resident which is essentially supported by our tourism, I say bring 2 empty suitcases and buy pretty much everything you need -- but practically its a better idea to restrict your spending.

Spending money is your own decision, and I suggest you set a number you want to spend and a MAX amount, so that you really don't spend too much. My personal opinion is that you'll have a better time buying less useless toys, apparel, and other nonsense and spending that money on some awesome restaraunts (some great ones inside the parks, and outside), tours, and other unique experiences. Although you may think that hitting nicer restaraunts is a waste of money, the fact is that when a burger and fries costs 9 dollars, paying 12 for a nice chicken lunch at a sit down restaurant becomes a good investment. And trust me, those weird spinny light toys get boring quick, and Mickey T-Shirts gets worn and boring like any other.

Enjoy it here, it can be nice.

Well I'd say bring ALOT of spending money if you can, i know when we went we bought loads of stuff but most of it we brought on the plane with us in a bag, like i've seen most people do. Nothing will be given to you, however, and stuff is often really expensive there. If you'd like you can bring a close to empty suitcase if you're that concerned. Most things you'll be buying are souvenirs for you and your family. I'm going back on a school trip there this spring, and i will hopefully bring alot of extra money. Anyways, have fun!

Bring LOTS of spending money. The stuff you will bring back is going to be in the form of souvenirs. When we go to Disney, or the other Orlando attractions for that matter, they have things there you can't find anywhere else. The last time I took my kids, I ended up buying another suitcase. I will be packing an empty bag this time. You are on vacation, make sure you enjoy yourself.

Nothing will be given away! but you will end up buying a lot of "over priced stuff" from t shirts to a 4 dollar bottle of water it adds up. I wouldn't suggest buying gifts for people at the theme parks just go to the discount stores around the area (not hard to miss) they sell stuff just as good as the overpriced things they sell at their parks.

Another tip, buy your theme park tickets online you'll get discounts! Universal/Islands of Adventure is cheaper than Disney, If you like thrill, and excitement go to universal if you like the experience and cute things go to Disney.

As for how much money... It depends if you like to shop but bring a minimum of 30 dollars a day.

If you have plenty of money that you can spend on souvenirs, by all means, take an extra suitcase along to haul it back home.

Also, several stores (especially at Disney World) will ship your purchases to your home and you don't have to worry about lugging it through the airport or taking up space in your car.

Have fun!

You might be taking home a few souveniers, but I wouldn't pack lightly. The things there are really expensive.
