i love u means u care and have love for that person but being in love with someone means thats the person u want to be with forever the one that makes u happy, makes u smile,& the one u would do anything 4. I used to think there was no difference but now that i have been in love i know that it is not.

Well I think we've all heard this one from a women it means she loves you as a person or loves things that you do for others or she loves the way you treat her but that she just has't fell in love with you and may never because of things that it takes for her to fall in love

The difference is romance and sex. Loving another does not always include romance or sex, as in loving your siblings or parents. Being "in love" implies romantic feelings, for a significant other, which involves a sexual possibility (consummated sexually or not) generally reserved for someone outside your family structure. So, I can love my sister, but being "in love" with my sister might result in incest. Inbreding is generally considered a very BAD thing. So, I have a lady friend, and this is exactly how she told me we never would be a sexual couple, that she loved me, but was not in love with me, and thus we will always be friends, but not lovers. Sigh. I really liked this woman and I really anted to be lovers, but she decided to love me, as in a brother, not to be "in love" with me.

Being in love is when your heart aches for that person. When you are in love, the PASSION is so strong that it is like a burning fire that never dies. Your body, your mind and your heart feels it- all the way down to your loins to your feet. PASSION is the difference.

"I love you" is like loving your parents, your best friend, your kids, your dog, etc.. "In love" is the passionate, romantic, heart stopping feeling you have for someone you may want to spend your life with. If a woman has told you this, she likes you a lot, but doesn't love you. If you love her, I suggest you move on!
