We are sexual beings. This quality defines much of what we do and who are. Sexuality does not mean the act of intercourse. It does not mean a preference. It is a part of what makes us human. We can't be defined by just one aspect of ourselves.
We are defined by all aspects of ourselves, and marketing is aimed at all aspects of who we are.

Rather a jumbled question, no?
1) Emphasis on sexuality? As if it's not one of the strongest, most pleasurable human urges?
2) A moment? Is not life but a "moment" in the face of eternity? Yes, it's a "moment" and people can't get enough of it. The point is.......?
3) Ah, commercial markets. Sex has always been a marketable item; if that's the viewpoint you want to focus on.
4) "....to control the individual." Na, ya lost me on that one. If you meant that markets design their advertising toward different individuals based on their sexual preference/identity. Yes.

for the sake of making these answers less once sided--
the fact that one asks this question is an example of the success of humankind.
what the purpose of life boils down to, scientifically, is reproduction. humans, at one point, had to reproduce to keep our species in existence.
why i say this question represents success is that now humans have reached such a level of biological dominance that some choose to have sexual intercourse with members of the same sex, and in turn, not reproduce, and intentionally destroy any future lineage that human might have bestowed.
of course, for this argument to be more appropriate there would need to be a potential population shortage or something else like that, which i don't see happening.
this is why i said a success for humankind.
i am not condemning homosexual practices, merely stating that they are inefficient in the eyes of science, and homosexuality, by definition, will die off on its own.
in this sense, i guess bisexuals get the best of both worlds. what's a wasted sperm or egg here or there as long as you end up getting the ultimate job (reproducing) done somewhere along the line?
oh, and on the other hand, mankind is seemingly more likely to overpopulate the earth anyway...so maybe some homosexuals are necessary to society to prevent this overpopulation and keep us from having to set up camp on mars or the moon??
regardless... i personally have thought that your sexuality was defined by the acts of intercourse that you commit. so you're either straight, gay, or bi. then if you're gay you have to figure out if you're a pitcher or a catcher.
lol
hell, who knows? maybe the author of this question needs to go on maury povich. let mad dogg scare some straight into ya.
lol i think im done

In this given reality, everything has an indicator to define what a thing is. Your option to sit within a given category that has been defined comes from either nature or choice. The only thing that I find wrong is when you are persecuted for selecting a category, which in the eyes of the majority doesn’t fit who they want you to be. Categorizing things happens to be a way that MAN uses to bring about “order”. If defining your sexuality as pertaining to a questioner for employment, it is wrong and unjust. (Assuming that it is not for an adult industry where it is a must know situation) As with anything, if it is in existence, it is marketable.

I think it's because of Freud. According to hi once friend and disciple C.J.Jung, Sigmund Freud has a very serious problem with his own sexuality. If not sexually obsessed, he suffered a deep neurosis due to it.
Unfortunately wanted to bring every patients (male or female) necrosis back to sex. So doing, he overlooked a lot of the human psyche, and so failed in many therapies.
When he came to the US, he is quoted to have said "I am bringing you something that is worse than pest and cholera". How right was he!

I would agree that defining your lifestyle in terms of your sexual behvaior is...well maybe narrow. I wouldn't say wrong. But surely narrow. We are much more than any one aspect of ourselves. If we are not, I'm a lasagna-ist.

Human Sex and Divine Sex is as different as the Sun and the Moon.
Human Sex is but a fleeting moment but Divine Sexuality is eternal.
