they gradually fall apart, starting with loosing the ability to spell simple words, like sleep :-))
Then they start hanging out here,........ (Joking)
Seriously, they human brain and body require sleep, but each person's need level is unique. I manage just fine on 4-5 hours nightly, and can skip a night entirely and pull through just fine. Other people need 8 or more hours nightly and get short-tempered and incoherent if they don't get their quota.
The fact that you are feeling stressed is your body telling you it needs more sleep. Try to re-arrange things (sleep more, work less, take less courses each semester),... to get your sleep.

It really is a question of what "enough" means to each person. Typically, it's around 6 hours. If you're not experiencing any migraines, nausea or hallucinations, then you're not too affected by this "lack-ness". However, you'll probably see signs of depression from this over-stressed routine you're leading. Clearly, you're sleeping just the amount of hours you're getting free, which means your body would probably sleep more had you more time away from work and school. If you start having headaches, know that they might lead to migraines. Make sure your diet is sufficient and that your sleep is uninterrupted and comfortable since you cannot afford any more anxieties adding to your daily stresses. Good luck!

The less sleep you get, the more fatigued your body gets. That means you are more likely to become ill more often, because the body uses sleep time to help repair and recharge. Your brain will not function as well as it would if you did sleep more, either. It will all catch up to you eventually.

Every 2 hours of sleep you lose out on is equivalent to a drink of alcohol. Some states will actually ticket you for driving sleep deprived.

Well, the first thing that happens is that your concentration and basic though processes begin to fail...resulting in doing things like forgeting how to spell the word sleep.

Theres no proof that anyone even needs sleep. If you dont get enough sleep for a while you eventually get used to it. It is nice to get as much as possible though.
