Every so often someone pulls the wings off

2007-01-07 18:20:01 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

I once was a caterpillar, with no direction in life. I was crawling across a leaf and I spotted the most handsome butterfly. So graceful and grand. I was sad for a moment because I realized something so beautiful would never give me a second thought. He surprised me by flying over and landing on my leaf. No words were exchanged, none needed to be. He simply nodded at me and smiled, then he flew off. I never thought I'd see this gracious butterfly again. Two days later, a change came over me. I didn't know what was happening, but I felt like my life was about to change forever. I fell asleep. When I awoke, I was no longer a crawling caterpillar. I was a beautiful butterfly! I had such beautiful wings and I could fly! Before I even flapped a single wing, the butterfly from the days before come over and sat beside me. Then I knew. He had been waiting for me, just the same as I had been waiting for him. Our antennae intertwined and the silent flutter of our wings matched the beating of my heart. We flew off together towards the sunset.
Today we awake in our favorite flower each morning. Our wings wrapped against each other tightly. Our lips pressed gently together. We are partners for life. Soul mates forever.

Simile!

Tired of the Metaphors already. I can do this. I think.

You hit on one of my favorite plays/movies.

I picture myself growing up and learning who I am and what I want to do in my life and one day being truly free to express myself for who I am. It's a great thought, true freedom to be who you are and express yourself openly and honestly.

But, I realize that being a social butterfly means taking the chance that others may hurt you. They may stand in your way and cause you to move around them. They may try and capture you and put you in a jar to look at you. It is not easy being free when everyone you meet thinks you are there for their enjoyment.

Oh, to be a butterfly, it can be marvelous and yet it can end up with you stuck to a board somewhere in some ridiculous butterfly collection, the prize of some collector who thinks butterflies are to be adored and not appreciated. They are not.

Que the theme music "...Butterflies are free and so are we...."

yes, its flying freely from flower to flower, then it lays eggs for tomorrow and dies. then out comes the new and ugly Caterpillar who is too disgusting to look at but who hold the promise of better things. and before you know it there it is out of its cocoon and flying freely and beautifully from flower to flower. its a cycle. our love.

As the butterfly flaps its wings, so do I flap my arms in furious anger with a knife in my hand.
