Since I can remember I've loved dressing as a female. I can still remember the first time I got made up by my sister and loved it, but think the reaction from my brother at the time has made me not want to talk about it because he called me a "poof". Now, I sometimes get jealous when I see a female in something I would love to wear, or out with all their make up and nails done.

Recently I separated with my girlfriend (I'm straight) who although she knew about my dressing, didn't want to ever see this way. But I had this desire to be true to myself and come out, this is way I left. Since then I have told a close friend and she has been really great.

The main problem I have is telling my family and friends because I'm scared to loose them. My mother is very homophobic and wouldn't want to know about it. Other friends would be fine I believe with some, they maybe not want to be my friend any longer.

I find the best wat to approach this is in a non confrontational way. If you make a big drama out of it then the liklihood increases of a dramatic reaction. Your mother - does she really need to know if you figure her reaction is going to be so extreme? If you have a strong desire to be 'honest' with her then tell her in a way that isn't threatening to her world or conception of you.

The bottom line is you like to cross dress, but you have to also understand this will mean different things to different people. As you have said yourself sometimes in being honest people will get hurt or have adverse reactions and sometimes there is no way round it. The easiest way of putting it is if you are truly comfortable and unashamed of who you are it will make telling people a whole lot more natural and easy!

I'm a female I dress as a male. My dad is fine with it, we bond well because we talk about pu**ies. But my mom "didn't raise a man" She knows I dress masculine. But she just ignores it maybe hoping it'd go away. Start out with telling understand friends and family, then they'll tell everyone else.

It wasn't easy for me. My mother is very religious and my father is homophobic. Try to be as non-confrontational as possible. Go dressed as a man and sit them down and just tell them. You have to be true to yourself. Your parents will just have to adjust. It took my mother some time, but she now accepts me for who I am. I don't talk to my father or my older brother any more. You will probably have to deal with some loss of relationships if you go through with it.

G'Day Aussie Boi,

Another Aussie Boi here HEHE

Aye, i think you;ve done alot already and asked a question. It might be small, but its a start!

I think thats a hard one, but if you can call them friends, when it comes to friendship, your true friends will accept it, but sometimes when this turn out, you might lose a friend or two, but you need to ask yourself the question, "Were they really your friends? "

Take small steps with it mate, it might take awhile, but then again you want to get it out and start to enjoy your new found experience.

Wishing you all the best mate, take care

Why would they want to know? If you dress up, trust me--they'll notice. You either want to dress up in the presence of others or you don't. And you either want to accept the consequences or you don't. This is your decision.

Try to save it for a big family gathering where a lot of people will hear. That way you can maximize total embarassment. THAT WILL BE SO AWESOME!
