I am 20 weeks and having terrible sinus problems. Besides the sinus pressure I have a lot of trouble swallowing. It feels like there is super glue in my throat and its hard to swallow. Dr said I can take sudafed.. which helps with the pressure.. but not the mucus.. any suggestions?

Try Musinex (spelling) you may have to ask the pharmacist for it because of the ingredients (like Sudafed) I believe they now make a sinus medicine. The stuff they make for chest congestion works excellent. Most of all what ever you buy make sure it is an expectorant...not just something that "relieves sinus pressure"...you don't want to just temporarily dry out the mucus you want to be able to keep it loose and actually expell it from your sinuses. (O.k. I think I'm grossing myself out here)

duing your pregnancy you should avoid heavy dosage of medicine it could be harmful for the child. what you could do is try herbal medicine. if you know of a homeopathic go to him/her, and whatever they give you, ask your gynocologist before taking those homeopathics. beside this you can take home remedies such as:
take a glass for hot water, and put one table spoon of honey and drink it. do this every night before you go to bed. try doing this till end of your pregnancy
sinus starts from your cold reaches your head, for this you should do some steaming which will also help you breath properly. if you have a facial steamer great, use that with vicks balm and take a good steam. it would be difficult as vicks is very strong but try to do it as much as you can. if you don't have a facial steamer at home, take a big enough pan to boil 5 liters of water. when boiling hot putthe pan in front of you on the floor and cover your self with the comforter and take a small coin and fill it with vicks balm and place it in the pan.
inhale exhale several times, and make sure you do keep a tissue with yourself, to blow your nose or whatever. do this for good 15 minutes time your self do it for more if you can.
the steaming is the best for sinus so do this.

Take some afrin. Its a nose spray that you take up to 3 days. It shouldnt have any affect on the baby. Itll soften up some of that mucus stuck in the back of your throat and help you breathe better but the sudafed will help with the chest congestion.

Guaifenisin is OK in pregnancy but the question is, why are you doing this? If from a cold, chicken soup has actually been shown to be more effective at, as the researchers put it, "increasing mucus velocity."
