I didn't start working until November so I only made a little over $200.00. I am not sure if I actually have to file for such a little amount. I am looking at this from a federal tax standpoint but if anyone knows the qualifications for the state of Ohio, that would be great too.

Please answer only if you know for sure.

Well ..... there are many things to consider --- your earned income and unearned income. Normally, if you made only $200 for the year you probably would not have and state or federal income tax withheld. But , if you did, you would have to file to be refunded any money withheld. Even simple tax forms can be overwhelming for someone not experienced so see if someone knowledgable or maybe a free service offered to low income people would help.

do yourself a favor and call the IRS or go to library and get the forms that will answer your question. If you are self employed it's about $200, if an employee & single about $4000. Even if you did not make enough to require that you file a return, if you had any tax withheld you will need to file to get it refunded. If you are single and have a child you may qualify for an earned income credit which can be a good deal.

I do not think you make enough to file the taxes this year. I am living in California. So I am sure it is not different than Ohio. Happy New year to you.

u r a LONG way from having to file taxes. If u want ur income and state tax back, u will of course, have to file.. U probably qualify for EIC so it would be worth filing to get that back...

In Minnesota you are not required to file unless you make more then five thousand dollars in taxable income. I don't see why it would be much different in Colorado.
