Conquering my mountain.

I had a very painful and extremely stressful experience a couple of years ago. I can't believe I got through it, but now i know what I'm made of. I feel strong, powerful an realise I'm worth more than I previously thought.

Oooh! Business Analogy.

"My worth as a person."

What is a person?

I cheated and read your other answers an may I say they place a lot of value on what others think of them and how others see them. I hope that is not what they think true worth is, especially the philosophy teacher.

My philosophy professor wrote a book on what it is to be a person in which he conjectured that if all you judge a person by is what they do or say then you might as well call your computer a person or a monkey for that matter. They both can talk, they both can act, and they both can become something your adore. If to be loved is all you want, You can love a pet rock , but; it doesn't make that rock a person. It is still a rock.

I think a person has prove he/she is a person at some point in a relationship. A baby proves it when it smiles or laughs to something it sees and you laugh back. A child proves it when they go to school and finds a friend. An adult proves it when they see that they make a difference. And so on.

You realize you are a person not from "what" people say about you but from the fact that people say things about you and that those things are in respanse to thing you think about yourself.

Descartes wrote "Cogito ergo sum", I think therefore I am. Spinoza retorted "Ambulo ergo sum". Popeye said "I am what I am and that's all that I am, I'm Popeye the sailor man, Poop, Poop" I think he had it right.

If you want to be a person, just be yourself, get to know yourself, and appreciate that you make a difference. It's a Wonderful Life, (Thank you Frank Capra)

Confession time, I don't know for certain that I am a person and it time I may not be.

There is another school of thought that says that a person comes in two parts, that which he/she thinks he/she is and that part that others think he/she is. Deep down I know that one day the first part will die and disappear forever and the second part will get distorted and forgotten and erased, so; in the whole of time, I may not even have existed. (Isn't that a bummer.)

When I realized that I realized I might has well have been that pet rock, adored by some, ignored by many, and in time weathered away to sand. Of course sand can blow all over the place and find itself in amazing places like a beautiful woman's belly button over time. Oh to be sand....

Que the Danny solo from Grease, "Stranded at the drive in, branded a fool; What will they say Monday at school?...Sandy,..."

I believe the day was Nov. 3rd 2003. That was the day I was going to commit suicide. That's when I realized I was living for all the wrong reason's. I should have been taking better care of myself.

As a Philosophy Teacher I always told my students that their mere existence proves their worth, however, a defining moment for me was when one of them told me I had helped her overcome her disorder and changed her life.
