I already have a black strapless dress with a bit of beige in it, it looks quite dressy with heels, would this be appropriate? Please Help!

Sounds okay, but pure black would be better.

"After five" just means to be semidressy. Not formal eveningwear or anything, but eveningwear nonetheless. Yes, your dress sounds perfectly appropriate. However, I would suggest obtaining a nice, semidressy long black jacket that you could wear over it since it is the middle of winter.

After five is not evening, try maybe a shawl over that dressor a lil cardigan, and heels not too high..
