David Robert Jones was born in Brixton, London on 8 January 1947 to a father from Yorkshire and a mother from an Irish-Catholic family. He grew up at the address of 40 Stansfield Road. He lived in Brixton until he was six years old, when his family moved to Bromley in Kent (now part of Greater London). He was educated at Bromley Technical High School in Keston, Bromley and lived with his parents until he was 18.

David Bowie was born in London UK in 1947. He was born David Jones, but he changed his name in order for him NOT to be confused with Davy Jones who was the lead singer in the band The Monkees.
It is often said that David's eyes are different colours. In fact his left eye has a paralyzed pupil from a fight in the school playground.
