Handing out flyers etc is a good way! but make sure the flyers are know biger than A6 as anything bigger is to big for punters to put in their pocket and will end up in the next bin they come to. Also try and make sure the people handing out the flyers reflect the band i.e if you have a strong image make sure they promote that. An extreme version of this was if the band looked like kiss or slipnot get the people handing out the flyer to dress like them that way people remember the flyer and have a visual memory on just a bit of old paper in their pocket to write a phone number on the back of. Another good way is to get a support slot with a bigger band!
I'm a promoter for a living so I could go on all day about diffferent was to get ya band noticed but hope that these 2 ideas help. Try to think beyond just putting flyers out and poster up (by the way the best place to put a poster is not up, but down on the floor, as most people look down when they walk along the street, of course they don't last long like that, but more people will see them rather than if they were stuck in amongest alond of other posters on a wall.
I've checked out ya myspace page and ya have something real different but ya might wanna up ya image a bit. no matter how good ya music is, after the first time someone see's ya band live the next day the main thing they will remember is what you looked like!!
good luck
ps you could have but your gig dates etc on the bottom of your question!

Give out the flyers where people are into that music like other gigs or rock clubs.

As said get whoever is handing out the flyers to dress up.

Pull off a stunt (get journalists involved with press releases) like In The Avril Lavgene ska8er boi video.

Get some cheap beer and add a one free beer voucher for first 24 in the door, once in the q if 26th they came in might as well go in even if no more free beer.

Try an under18s club night where you get to be the band... good one that as lack of nightclubs for under18s, plus 16-18 main target market.

At your gig come up with a good stage act not simply playing.

Ie keith from the prodigy came on stage in a inflateble zorb ball and rolled over the crowd at gladstonebury, Sacrifice a kentucky fried chicken, add a foam party machine.

Support a bigger band.

Invest in some atmosphere... ie ALWAYS have a smoke machine for atmosphere and dont be stingey to get the lights working in your favour and rent a few scanners or stobes to start, Include a air guitar competition whilst playing.

Stick posters with bluetack in the toilets in clubs (maybe removing them end of night)

Get cheerleaders to hand out flyers,

Make your own t shirts,

Make demo cds and get club Djs playing them and hand out some copies of the cds in the clubs, wearing your t shirts. Get skinny ones for the girls... so guys stare at the boobies.

Improve the image of your singer and start a runmour around the school how well endoed he is or something like that.

However basic and simple this is the way of handing out flyer's, putting out posters, advertising over the Internet etc. The music industry is a very competitive business so you will just have to stand out from the crowd.

Put out a ton of flyers. Tell all your friends. Just keep playing out as much as possible. The more you play, the more people will get familiar with who you are and what your music is like. Pass out free cds at shows.

Pass out flyers everywhere. Get some good word of mouth going. Here in San Antonio, Tx, we have a free entertainment newspaper. You could look into placing an ad. Good luck to you.

Play amazingly well, and then make sure you have good posters posted in visible and well-visited spots.
