All browsers have a drawback to them. Mozzila is slow but safer than IE. firefox is fast but has site restrictions when you get to IE only sites. both IE and firefox have the same weaknesses againts ActiveX type viruses, expliots and highjackers. in the end there is no magic bullet here. not all sites allow for browsers other than IE and netscape, so oparh will not do much better since you will loose about 20% of site content and some sites all together. basically you have to wiegh your pros and cons out. IE is not that unsafe if you setup an internet security program like norton or mcafee. you can also run windows defender and spybot to help cut down on attacks and spyware as well as viruses. this will slow your computer down so you will need more RAM to compensate. That is about as best as you can do, sorry if that didn't help much

The problem is with naughty, naughty people making web sites that aren't browser non-specific or don't comply with HTML standards. They make the site in FrontPage on an IIS site and only test it with IE or some such naughtiness (shame, shame on them).
I use Opera myself primarily, I find it to be faster. If Opera has a problem with a page, usually Firefox works fine. Mozilla came from Netscape, which is what Firefox is.
I use these two for 99.9% of my browsing. I have a Win98 machine with IE5 on it for the rare cases that I absolutely need to use IE, or I just reboot the laptop into XP (eww) which has opera on it anyway for when I do use it in XP.

No Browser is safe unless protected by you you the user. to keep good security on your computer, not using a virus protection and a bot detector you are done in this world. IE is A Good Program, Uncle Bill gets attacked because there are many more computers running his browser, I have been running Internet explorer since DOS 2.11. keep the updates up to date Most problems comes from downloading from a friend or file swapping. No software is bullet proof, just like no car will ever last forever if you don't fix te dent's and nicks pretty soon ya have nothing left of it. foxfire is a good browser as well but with out the right protection it tow gets bugs.

Well, I use and prefer Firefox to Internet Explorer any day. There are updates available for Firefox if security is an issue. It can sometimes be frustrating that certain sites use IE exclusively but it is something that cannot be helped, short of not visiting them. IE7 really does bite, doesn't it.

What do u mean by Reliability? IE is on of the best piece of software developed by Microsoft and i too used it for more than 8-9 years and i still use it.
Since 90% of the people use Internet Explorer to browse the Internet when a Hacker wants to get into a system the best way is through IE since its the most used.
So over the years Hackers exploited the loopholes in IE.
Once a loop is recognised the fix would be released by microsoft. So if you keep your system patch level upto date i am sure you would have a very good IE Experience.
If you need any further clarification please get back to me.

Firefox now works with all but the crappiest of sites. It has become a large player in the browser world. Number 2 to be exact. Try it again, you will be surprised.

i still like firefox. its probally the safest out there. But no browser is perfect. I got the Noscrpit plug in by only running javascript on the sites i deem safe myself or trusted. that protects me and their is a few addons that claim to make it speed up a bit surf wise. I also suggest running a program called cleanup!(search yahoo) to wipe some of the temporroary files off your computer. Might speed up things computer wise.

Well newer versions of Firefox got really better (actually problem is not Firefox, it's web designers making pages only for IE). If you haven't used Firefox for a while, try the 2.0 version.
Also you can try Opera browser, maybe that fits your needs.

Firefox is supported more and more by websites. I use Firefox all the time and only use IE for the dinosaurs that refuse to support any other browser.
