You 'created' the nightmare yourself,so the best way to get it out of your head is to 'recreate' it. Sit somewhere calm and comfortable, close your eyes and see the nightmare in your mind. Now just redirect the things that happen - like if you were walking in a dark ally and someone attacked you, rethink it as that you were walking in a dark ally, came across a door, opened it and stepped into a magical world...go ahead, be creative.

Tell yourself before you sleep you have the power to wake from them. Sounds weird but I started to experience waking from them on command. I remember saying to myself in the nightmare 'thats enough wake up' and I did.
After that they decreased rapidly and now I dont get them anymore. Some forms of Buddhism believe you can completely control your dreams and what happens in them and have a great time. Maybe nightmares are the polar opposite of this. Take control, it does work!

This is typical. Everyone at one time or another has a dream or nightmare they remember. You were just creative enough to come up with a really scary one. Give it a few days and that creepy feeling will pass.

You need to tell someone about it, we can't help otherwise. It is still fresh in your mind if it only happened last night. Give it a bit of time and it will go. Don't dwell on it or you won't be able to forget it. If it is something about your life, maybe your sub conscious is trying to tell you something. I always used to dream about glass when I was doing or about to doing something that I shouldn't be doing, I don't like glass and I always knew then what the dream was about even if it didn't involve the thing or people.

You should just go about your daily routine, and do things to distract you from thinking about it, like something you're really interested in. Sooner or later you'll forget about it, trust me. It worked for me when I was trying to forget a scary film I watched.
