it matters on the depression

things like divorce could take years

things like "im in a fight with my boyfriend" last maybe, a day or two??

things like a friend dying can take from months to years, it just matters on how you look at it

all i can tell you is analyze the situation, see what is making you depressed and try to find a way to help it. go out with some friends, get some ice cream, cry, indulce yourself, watch a sad movie, sometimes it's nice to see someone else's pain and sometimes it make you look at your problem a whole lot differently

just whatever you do, stay away from suecide and cutting, i had a friend that commited suicide nad trust me it isnt fun for the people you leave behind

It depends on how bad the depression is. I'm glad you're not depressed, because it can be hard to get out of, since I've been depressed before.
It's also a matter of whether you want to snap out of it or not. I know many people say its something they 'can't control', but if you keep saying "oh woe is me", and keep sympathising for yourself, nothing will improve.
First, you need to be in a positive mind frame. Instead of continually focusing on the negative aspects of your life, such as "omg my life's so **** right now, i wanna die!", focus on the GOOD things, such as the good friends and family you may have, and how your friends care for you. They wouldn't want you to kill yourself, would they now?
Think positive, stay positive and you'll be positive! XD
Much love~

Spiral, I didn't even know I was depressed, until I went to a new doctor and he talked to me and told me I was depressed. I told him he was nuts. He said you have a lot of pressures in your life. I said hell yea. They started a long time ago, before my dad passed away, I worried about him and mom, when he passed on, I was worrying about mom and I have a brother that is fighting leukemia and several members of my family have health problems. One of my sister's husband's left her with no explaination, we thought their's was a marriage made in heaven. My health is really bad, heart, diabetes, lungs, kidneys, etc. So I said No, I don't have any worries. He put me on anxiety pills. They seem to help, but I still don't feel like doing the things I used to do.
It can take a lifetime without medical help.
