I'm looking for something definitive, and with an expansive back catalog of reviews cand user opinions similar to the Internet Movie Database but for books.

Amazon.com is where I would look for reviews when selecting books for a public library. They have professional reviews by Library Journal and Publisher's Weekly, but also very informative, and often insightful reviews by the general public.
