I made a statement about a theory being a belief and here's the response I got:

From: Michael

Subject: Scientific Theory

Message: If you're 22 and you think a scientific theory is just a 'belief', then you must have failed high school science class.

A scientific theory is not a degree of truth on some truth scale where a fact counts for more.

A scientific theory is merely a collection of scientific facts in an attempt to explain them. Let me restate: a scientific theory is a framework explanation for observed scientific facts.

Besides, gravity is just a scientific theory. So is atomic theory, cell theory, plate-tectonics, heliocentrism, elliptical orbits, etc...

Please, educate yourself before making a fool of yourself.

Fortunately for me, I was at the top of my science classes because I understood that observations do not necessarily make facts. A theory is not a fact either. Scientific theories and laws alike are continuously changing because they are determined to be inaccurate.

Now, who has really made themselves look foolish?

I must say, I keep my address available to those who truly want more information based on my answers. I genuinely like to offer my assistance and do so, attempting not to criticize, yet others criticize me for answering a question...odd how that works.

Because no matter what people always think they are right. Just like a few days ago I answered a question truthfully (they asked for advice) and I got an email telling me I was an ******.

So either you get the, I am always right people, or the I am ignorant people. It always amazes me to see some of the things you see on yahoo answers..

As for the people who say don't put your email. I think that's crap because I like to have my email up I have received a lot of great emails also. I think people just need to really stop and think about it before they send off an email just because they don't agree with someone.

You might explain what a belief is, at least your definition. Neither of you made fools of yourself, and at least he messaged you rather than stating his opinion publicly in the forum. You choose to open the debate to the public when you placed this question; and personally I think beliefs are far different than theories, and are totally valid, as are theories; but totally different. One doesn't need any facts to have a belief. The belief that the sky is blue is enough for you to believe that; the facts that cause the blueness have absolutely nothing to do with your belief.

nicely...it style of feels that my brothers and sisters in worship of Jehovah have spoke back this question. yet i'm unsure if this may well be a question in accordance with loss of Biblical wisdom or only yet in any different case of attack Jehovah's Witnesses. that's astounding what proportion human beings look to worry and communicate out at against Jehovah's Witnesses as quickly as we in undemanding terms make up slightly below seven million. i think of the 2008 3 hundred and sixty 5 days e book of Jehovah's Witnesses is an excellent occasion of the phobia that adult men or maybe governments have approximately an in any different case non violent group of human beings. yet besides, we do our very ultimate to maintain our tongues unfastened from foul language, and gossip. we don't smoke or take unlawful drugs. We do what we can to help those in want with interior the Congregation or maybe those between our neighbours. We shop ourselves 'without spot from the international' and shop ourselves 'sparkling and undefiled from the attitude of God' like the scripture says if we declare to worship Jehovah yet we don't bridle our tongue then not in undemanding terms are we deceiving those around us, yet we are deceiving ourselves and that makes our worship of Jehovah futile.

I think they do that for one of two reasons - first, their self esteem is so tied up in this forum that they take real offense at people's answers and have to take it personal. OR they have to feel the are the one and only correct person, and so take it personal.

Either way, they take it personal, and cannot refrain from comment or restrain themselves from comment. Since this forum doesn't allow much for that, they have to email you.

Either way, it makes them feel like a big man, when the rest of us know they were totally disregarded.

Unfortunately, here on Yahoo! Answers, there are 2 different groups of people: The ones who genuinely enjoy answering questions and are doing it soley for the purpose of helping and there are those who prefer to be jack asses. You have unfortunately met some of those jackasses...

There's no use in me answering the question but i just wanted to say how refreshingly postive it was to read the answers to this question. There is hope for the world yet.

When he correct you, he was right, "according to him." That happens when a man thinks that he knows everything. His truth is that you were wrong, your truth now is that he is wrong. Is that a theory or a fact? .......Michael, are you there....
