your doctore writes you something from a pharmacy, or only Kmart has this after pill that you can get over the counter. There arent really side effect but because of STD's you should also wear a condom. You usually take them once then your good for the day.Or for the after pill you take it within 72 hours of sex.

Birth control pills are taken month to month so you can stop anytime. They should be effective right away but pls ask a doctor or planned parenthood to make sure. No, they don't make you gain weight. If you retain water, you can get a very cheap water pill, hydrochlorothyazide, that costs about $8 for 100 (one per day). A birth control patch now comes in one week, one month, or 1 year strength. An intrauterine device (I.U.D.) can be used even by a woman who has never had a child and is good for up to two year and is inserted by a doctor and can be removed anytime by a doctor. I am so glad you are asking. Clueless would be NOT asking, and getting pregnant and then going around like too many women, saying "I didn't mean to get pregnant."

Different types of birth control do result in weight gain. For me it was the depo-provera shot. It really depends on your body chemistry and the type of B/c you are using. Planned parent hood does give free or reduced priced birth control depending on your personal income, it's based on a sliding scale and whether or not you have health insurance. It's recommended that you use condoms with the pill for the first month. If you expect it to be effective in preventing a pregnancy then you should definitely follow the dosing recommendations. Of course you can stop whenever you want, but do you have a back up method? And are you prepared to have a very heavy period again when you stop taking it? Your body will need time to readjust to not receiving the hormone progesterone.

The best place to recieve birth control is from your gynecologist. She can describe different methods to you and help you choose which one is best for you.
I personally use depo provera which is a shot that you receive every 13 weeks and I can promise you it doesn't hurt. I love it because you never have a period after the first three months and it is 99% effective like other methods. As far as weight gain, with depo provera you can gain 5 pounds a year or some minimal number like that. I have seen no change in my weight however and I have been on it for over two years now. Depo costs about $30 every 13 weeks for me--it really all depends on what your health insurance will cover.
With Depo Provera you can stop getting the shot and within two weeks you will be capable of having a child and your periods will resume. And Depo is in effect two days after your first shot.
Planned Parenthood will only give you free condoms so your best bet is to go to the doctor.
I hope this helps!

You can get birth control @ planned parenthood or the pharmacy if you have a perscription.
The cost varies depending on the type of birth control you go on, there are several types: The pill, Depo, the ring, the patch, the implant, and the IUD.
Each birth control varies. If you take the pill it can take up to a month before it goes into effect, the shot goes into effect instantly it's injected, the IUD takes a few hours, the patch and the implant i'm not sure about.
You can always stop taking the birth control when you want. If you are on the pill you might want to finish the pack and then stop. The shot you can stop by not taking the following shot.
As for free I don't think you can get it for free from a phramacy. Each planned parenthood has their own rules and regulations about dispensing birth control since they're not founded. I know in Masschusetts depending on your income and if you have health insurance you might quality for free if not discounted birth control pills and services.
If you want you can contact your local planned parenthood and talk to them about birth control or if they have info sessions and see what they say.

Talk to your parents about this. They can give you better advice than internet people who have no real interest in you.
If you don't get your birth control pills from planned parenthood or a similar outfit, you'll need to see your doctor and get a prescription. It's a good idea to see your doctor if you're newly sexually active and since you are sexually active you should be seeing a gynecologist once a year, they'll give you the pills. They are usually not too expensive. It takes a full cycle (about 30 days) to be effective.Yes, it can make you gain weight as well as cause a host of other problems and side effects. You can stop taking it whenever you want but you will no longer have protection from pregnancy.
If you want to be sure you don't get pregnant, absolutely sure, don't have sex. Any sex, no matter how well protected can lead to pregnancy and if you're not ready for that responsibility you are not ready for sex.

I'm assuming you speaking of the pill. You can get them through your primary care doctor, but Planned Parenthood does do free or reduced rate birth control for those who qualify. Some people do gain weight, I, myself, didn't. It takes a full cycle of 30 days to become effective and can be discontinued at any time.

I had my birth control (Yasmin (pill)) prescribed to me by my ob-gyn. It costs me $45 for a months supply of pills. I haven't gained any weight from it, it didn't make me sick when I started taking it or anything. And I've heard a lot of people who also have had no symptoms from it. AND it's effective in about 1-2 days (it's in writing in the box) And yes you can stop taking it whenever you want. Just remember to take it everyday. You don't HAVE to take it at the same time everyday but it's a good idea to.

Yes you can get them free at planned parenthood. If you are talking about oral birth control it will usually take a month or two before you are safe from pregnancy. It WILL NOT protecte you from disease though, so better pick up some of those free condoms while you are there.

ok im on a pill from planned parenthood called ortho try-cylen
i get mine for free.
but if you dont get it for free -(if your medicaid doesnt cover for it)
then the price can range from 40-60 $$
i took mine the first day i got it.
the package says to start taking the sunday of your period or somthing like that and it will start working in about a week.
but in my case i had to wait an entire month for it to work.
i take it every day at the same time (this is very important to take it at the same time everyday)
and if you start taking it and all of a sudden stop you will get very sick (believe me i know )
the reason you would get sick is because birth control has horomones in it and once your body gets used to them. and stoping taking them could mess with your horomones and make you have nausia or w.e its called /
i dont think it makes you gain weight .
i havent gained any weight.
most women dont.
you might feel like you want to eat alot. but you just need to control your cravings.
certain types of birth control i have heard makes you gain weight (so i have heard)
some of my friends that were on the shot claimed to gain weight so they switched to the pill.
if your planning on going to planned parenthood.
just go to plannedparenthood.com
they will tell you ALOT about birth control
well i hope it helped :]
