I don't really know, and I don't really care. What I DO care about is the fact that you are clogging up Women's Studies with your whiney male I'm-so-sad-there's-not-a-men's-studies-section B.S. If you want one, contact Yahoo about it, don't come and complain here. We aren't the ones who made this section and we aren't the ones who have the power to make a men's section.

Why would it be sexist? The reason that "Men's Studies" isn't a thing, though, is that _everything_ is men's studies. History, politics, art, science- these are still mostly the stories of what men, mostly white men, did. That's why there are now "Women's Studies" and "Black Studies"; it's an attempt to correct a gross oversight. Within those areas, the impact and point of view of groups that are largely ignored in other places (though that's getting better) can be explored.

I think that a place where men could discuss their roles in this society would be a perfectly acceptable thing. Part of feminism is opening up choices for men, too. Even now, what are traditionally "manly" virtues and attitudes are the default, and any variation from that is bad. As women become more respected and more equal, the things assigned to us lose their stigma, and a guy will be more able to be, I don't know, sensitive or into poetry or whatever. It's happening, which is great. I think you guys can agree that a world where you get to actually hug your kids and cry when your parents die is a much better place.

I think it's a wonderful idea. Without sounding arrogant on my part, I believe men are entitled just as much as women, and I am speaking as a 35 year old female. I find men more fascinating than women, and that's MY opinion because we're catty and tend to irrationalize faster than men. Men are just men; I grew up with 4 older brothers so I can appreciate your question. I would most definitely go to the Yahoo Answers 360 blog and make your voice be known- they do listen, they lurk but they do indeed do their jobs, and being underpaid doesn't help them either- they're understaffed. - that's another conversation though. Thank you for reading my answer.

I think its wrong that they only have one for women. It makes me feel like we are taking all the glory and telling men that they can't be studied. It makes it seem like we are too sensitive to have male geared questions. I think it would be great to have a forum for men's studies. Its not sexist at all.

Sexist has nothing to do with mens studies. These studies are studies not debates.I really would like to see a mens studies for issues or thoughts about our lives to share but it doesn't seem to be happening.

no not at all. I have a right to know about your world like you have a right to know about mine -fair is fair. Yet with you being a man you are not liable to open up as readily as a woman - I'm a woman and even I don't open up - what I am talking about is the general cliche that when a woman talks about her problem to a man he believes that he need to don his Mr Fix it hat. Most men prefer to go and solve their problems on their own and only if they respect a man would they ever ask him for help. Now those things I am concerned about. Other wise I still hold to my answer.

its timely as men need help. look at the mess he has created in this world - be it politics, environment, finance, social science etc. its timely that man stop and look at himself. there is so much woman's studies etc but women are still lagging behind because man is still domineering. hence a men's studies would be useful for man to allow women their rightful due and take their rightful place in the governance of society and the community

Many females would assuredly erupt in a hissy fit if suddenly they were not the gender receiving all the attention they feel is due them.

More males die of prostrate cancer than females do of breast cancer yet public funding is skewed towards breast cancer vice prostrate ate a rate of 130 to one!!!!!

Postage stamp about breast cancer, NONE for anything regarding male health.

Massive amounts of support for females in both public and private institutions but very little for males.

Yep, take the limelight away from the girls and many will assuredly stamp their little feet and display their little hissy fits.

Honestly, I think we shouldn't have either. If we have men's studies and women's studies then we need transgendered studies and while we're at it why not have teen studies and child studies and middle age studies and poor people studies and rich people studies and handicapped studies and black studies and white studies...ugh.
