I was wondering if I can make my beardie bob his head and wave his arm without getting another one.

Mine waved his arm at me when I first got him but I haven't been able to reproduce that.

Babies Beardies do the arm thing. They hardly do it at all once adults. The bobbing head is usually a sign of aggression to something they see. I have 2 males and they will bob their heads if they see eachother so I put them in seperate rooms because the frustration is not good for them. Beardies like to be docile.

Head bobbing is a dominant behaviour while arm waving is a submissive one. Head bobbing is also a part of mating behaviour and is done very quickly by the male and very slowly (almost bowing) by the female. If you want to get your dragon to display one of these behaviours without another dragon present then you could try showing him a mirror, if you have a male he should try head bobbing and black bearding to show dominance and territory. I can't think of how you would make him arm wave though as you would have to make him submissive which would also stress him out.

He will bob if anything upsets him. It doesnt have to be another beardie. And a mirror probobly won't work; reptiles are smarter than fish, Its not like a betta. Ours has bobbed at me when he was mad.

Yes you can do this, mine will do it if I hold my finger over her head and just hold it there. Just don't do it too often as it is stressful to your beardie.

They are fun though aren't they?

try putting a mirror in his cage. maybe he'll think it's another beardie.
